Finding Settings

Open Settings in the sidebar. The page is one long document with six sections, listed on the left so you can jump between them. The light, dark, or system theme is set from your account menu at the bottom of the sidebar.

General

  • Number format: Local groups digits the way the currency's home country does, so rupee amounts read 1,23,456; International always groups in thousands (1,234,567).
  • Large numbers: show headline figures on dashboards and charts in full, or abbreviated (1.2M). Amounts in tables are always exact.
  • Currency normalization: show transaction amounts converted to your display currency using historical exchange rates. Dashboard totals are always converted, whatever this is set to.
  • Display currency: the currency totals are shown in. On its own this only changes the symbol; with currency normalization on, amounts are converted too.

Notifications

  • Browser import alerts: a system notification when a statement arrives or finishes processing, even when Bankflow isn't the active tab. Your browser asks for permission the first time. If you've blocked notifications for the site, allow them in your browser's settings first.
  • Import confirmation emails: an email when a statement you forwarded to your import address has been processed.
  • Marketing emails: product tips and updates. Account emails, such as receipts and security notices, are always sent.

Security & Privacy

  • Count statements that have warnings: with this on, statements count in your totals straight away, even when the parser flagged something to check; the warnings stay on the statement for you to review. Turn it off to hold a statement out of your totals until you've reviewed it. This is the same choice as Finish statements automatically in the importer. Either way, a statement with an unknown currency, no included rows, or a duplicate of an earlier upload always waits for you.
  • Identify merchants automatically: recognise merchants from transaction descriptions during categorization and add them to your list. Turn it off to manage merchants yourself. See managing merchants.
  • Delete original document after processing: delete each uploaded file once its transactions are extracted. The transactions stay, but you can no longer preview the original, review rows against it, or reprocess it.

File access

Passwords for locked PDFs. Reusable PDF passwords are tried automatically whenever an imported PDF is locked. Source-specific passwords are saved to a bank after a locked import succeeds. Reveal or remove any of them here. Removing one forgets it everywhere it was saved.

Account Data

Export all data downloads a ZIP of your transactions (as CSV and JSON), statements, categories, tags, rules, and preferences. Original PDFs aren't included.

Manage data holds the actions that can't be undone, each scoped as narrowly as possible so you can start with the smallest one that does the job:

ActionWhat it removesWhat it keeps
Clear saved passwordsEvery saved PDF password.Everything else. You'll be asked for passwords again on the next locked import.
Clear rules & merchantsMerchants, custom categories, your rules, and learned statement layouts.Your transactions, though they lose the merchants and tags rules gave them.
Delete uploaded documentsEvery stored statement PDF.Statements and transactions. Previewing the original won't be possible any more.
Reset statements & transactionsAll statements, their transactions, and processing history.Your banks, sources, and saved passwords.
Wipe application dataStatements, transactions, banks, sources, tags, rules, email inbox data, API keys, and processing history.Your login, billing, credits, required audit records, and display currency.

Where files are deleted, Bankflow removes them from active data and requests deletion from storage; the storage provider's own backups follow their retention cycle.

Email Imports

Your private import address (with a button to generate a new one if the old one leaks), your approved senders, and under Advanced, your auto-import rules. See importing by email.

Connected Accounts
