Capital One statements: Convert a Capital One statement to Excel, CSV, or QBO.

360 Checking, 360 Performance Savings, and every Capital One card, from the statement PDF rather than the two years the website shows. Card statements are recognised as cards, so a QuickBooks export lands in a credit card account rather than a bank register.

Purchases, payments, fees, and interest from the statement PDF become one table with signed numeric amounts. Illustrative data.

The website shows two years. The statements hold seven.

Capital One's own help says it plainly: the transaction list on the website covers the past two years of activity, and anything older lives in the statements, which stay online for seven. So the moment a reconciliation, a loan file, or a tax question reaches back further than the list does, the answer is a stack of PDFs. Those PDFs are printed to be read, not totalled: purchases in one section, payments and credits in another, fees and interest in a third, and a summary box that looks like data and is not.

How it works

Convert a Capital One statement, screen by screen

  1. 01

    Upload the PDF

Statements from 360 Checking, 360 Performance Savings, Money Market, and any Capital One card all work, up to 50 MB each, password-protected files included.

The import dialog, with Email import called out beside Upload files: a statement can be dropped in or forwarded to a private address.
Drop the PDF in, or forward the statement email from Capital One to your private import address. The run shown here is a Chase statement: the flow is identical whichever bank printed yours.
  2. 02

    Confirm the import

Review the queued files and set whether statements carrying warnings still count in your analytics. Nothing is read until you confirm.

The import dialog, with the setting that keeps statements carrying warnings in your analytics called out.
The warning types that will still count toward analytics are named before anything is extracted.
  3. 03

    Let it parse

Transactions are read section by section, a card statement is recognised as a card from the minimum payment, due date, and credit limit it prints, and the balances are reconciled against the printed close.

The statement library, with the active jobs counter called out: imports still running are counted there.
The statement lands in the library with its bank, when it arrived, and the money in and out.
  4. 04

    Check the rows

The library flags what needs a second look before you open the statement. Inside, the ledger sits beside the statement page with the row under review boxed in both panes.

The transactions ledger, with the source column called out: every row keeps the statement it came from.
Every row keeps the Capital One statement it was read from, so a figure can be traced back.
  5. 05

    Export

XLSX for Excel, CSV for another ledger, or a QBO file QuickBooks imports, written as a credit card when the statement is one.

Export dialog with Excel selected, configurable fields and presets on the left, and a live transaction preview.
Choose Excel from the expanded format menu, then configure the columns and preview the selected rows before export.

Before you convert

How to download your Capital One statement

Three clicks on the website, or four in the app.

  1. 1

    Sign in at capitalone.com

Statements only exist online once the account is enrolled in paperless statements, which is also where you turn that on.

  2. 2

Click the account you want statements for

Statements are filed per account, so a card and a 360 Checking account each keep their own list.

  3. 3

Click View statements and pick a month

In the Capital One Mobile app, tap the account, scroll to the bottom, and tap Statements. Up to seven years are listed for an active account.

  4. 4

Save the PDF and convert it

Bank statements are generated by about the 6th of each month, and savings statements quarterly when there is no activity, so the newest month may not be there yet.

Steps and retention from Capital One's own help centre, checked September 16, 2026. The website's transaction list covers two years; the statements carry seven.

What the parse is careful about

A card statement stays a card

The minimum payment, payment due date, and credit limit a card statement prints are what mark it as one. That travels into the export, so QuickBooks offers credit card accounts rather than bank accounts.

One signed Amount column

Purchases, payments, credits, fees, and interest printed in separate sections come out as a single signed column, negative out and positive in, ready to SUM.

Reconciled against the printed close

The parsed rows have to agree with the statement's own opening and closing figures. When they do not, you get a flag naming the page rather than a plausible-looking sheet.

Older than the website goes

Anything you can download as a PDF converts, including the years the on-screen activity list no longer reaches and accounts that have since been closed.

Real column types

Dates are date cells, amounts are numbers, and the merchant sits in its own column, so pivot tables and SUMIFs work the moment the file opens.

Handled like financial data

Files are processed for your account only, are not used to train anything, and can be deleted once the export is downloaded.

What converts, and what you get back

StatementWhat comes out
360 CheckingDeposits, withdrawals, transfers, and fees as one signed, date-ordered table.
360 Performance Savings and Money MarketInterest, transfers, and any quarterly statement period, reconciled on the statement's own balances.
Capital One cardsVenture, Quicksilver, Savor, Platinum, and the rest: purchases, payments, fees, and interest, exported as a credit card account.
Spark business cardsThe same rows plus a Source column, so several cards can be exported into one sheet without merging their balances.
Scanned or emailed copiesOCR runs first, so a saved scan converts like a downloaded PDF, and is worth a closer review.
Formats outXLSX, CSV, JSON, or a ledger file (OFX, QBO, QFX, QIF, IIF, Xero, Sage, MYOB, NetSuite), exporting exactly the rows your filters left on screen.

FAQ

Common questions

How do I convert a Capital One statement to Excel?

Sign in at capitalone.com, open the account, click View statements, and download the month you need. Upload the PDF, let it parse and reconcile against the printed balances, review the rows beside the page, then export as XLSX.

How far back do Capital One statements go?

Capital One lists up to seven years of statements online for an active account, while the transaction list on the website shows the past two years. That gap is the reason to convert the PDFs: they are the only record that reaches the older years.

Can I convert a Capital One credit card statement?

Yes, and it is treated as a card. Bankflow recognises a card statement from the minimum payment, payment due date, and credit limit it prints, and a QuickBooks or Quicken export then describes a credit card account, so charges raise the balance and payments reduce it.

I have a card and a 360 Checking account. Do they get mixed up?

No. Both sit under Capital One as one bank, and each statement carries its own account type, so the checking statements export as a bank account and the card statements as a card, without keeping two separate setups.

Can I convert several months at once?

Yes. Upload as many statements as you have and export them as one sheet; the Source column records which statement each row came from.

What if the parse gets a row wrong?

Fix it before exporting. The ledger supports inline edits, range selection, and bulk recategorization, and manual corrections are protected from later automated changes.

Converting a statement from a different bank?

The same workspace, written up for the format each bank prints.

Seven years of statements, one spreadsheet.

Upload a Capital One statement, check the rows against the printed page, and download the file you needed.
