Same statements. Three different jobs.
A bookkeeper, an accountant, and a firm can be looking at the identical PDF and want three unrelated things from it. These pages are written for the job rather than for the file: what the month or the year actually looks like, and which part of the product does the work.

The difference is the cadence, and it changes everything.
Bookkeeping is the same month happening twelve times, so the win is setting the repeat up once and never touching the transcription again. Year-end is the opposite shape: one large reconstruction, done under a deadline, where the risk is not the hours but a figure you cannot trace back to the page it came from. A firm has neither problem and a third one, which is that the work is done by different people and has to come out looking the same regardless of who did it. Read the page for the shape your work actually has; the product underneath is the same, but almost none of the same features matter.
By role
Which of these is your month?
Each page follows one worked engagement end to end, on the product's real screens.
Here for a specific file format?
If the question is narrower than a whole workflow, and it is really about getting a statement into Excel, into QuickBooks, or into Xero, those pages answer it directly.
What each role is optimising for
Same product, three genuinely different centres of gravity.
| Role | The shape of the work | What carries the weight |
|---|---|---|
| Bookkeepers | The same client, the same banks, twelve times a year. | A forwarding address per account, and rules that code the vendors before anyone opens the file. |
| Accountants | A year rebuilt from PDFs, at once, against a deadline. | Balance reconciliation at intake, and every figure traceable back to the statement line it was read from. |
| Accounting firms | Many clients, many preparers, one standard. | One intake route per engagement, firm-level rules rather than preparer habits, and an API for the rest. |
FAQ
Common questions
I do all three. Which page should I read?
Read the one matching the work you are trying to fix right now. The pages overlap in product and not in advice: the bookkeeping page is about removing repetition, the accountants page about defending a number, and the firms page about making the output identical across people.
Do my clients need their own accounts?
No. They forward statement emails to the private import address you give them, or send you files however they already do. There is no login for them to create and nothing for them to learn.
Does any of this require a bank connection?
No. Everything starts from statements the bank has already issued, which is also why history is not capped at the ninety days a feed typically reaches back.
Can I try it on real client work?
Fifty free page credits with no card, which is enough to run one client's month, or a couple of statements from a year-end, from intake through to export.
Run one real engagement through it.
Fifty free page credits, no card. A month of one client's statements is usually enough to know.
