How Credits and Billing Work in Bankflow
What a credit is, what uses credits and what doesn't, how to save credits on every import, what happens when you run out, and where to manage your plan.

What a Credit Is
Bankflow is priced in credits. One credit covers one standard A4 page of a statement, invoice, or receipt. A typical monthly bank statement is a few pages, so a small allowance goes a long way. Every plan includes every feature; plans differ only in how many credits you get. See pricing for the plans.
A few pages count as more than one credit:
- Oversized paper, like A3 or tabloid, is billed as the A4 pages it would print to.
- One very long page, the way some banking apps export a whole statement, is billed the same way.
- Unusually expensive documents, such as dense scans or layouts that need several passes to read, are billed closer to what they cost us, capped so the charge can't run away from the page count.
What Uses Credits
- Reading a bank statement, however it arrives: an upload, a forwarded email, a workflow, or the API.
- Converting an invoice or receipt in Convert, one credit per page or photo.
A statement that turns out to contain no transactions still uses credits, because by the time we know that, the whole document has been read. If you believe we missed transactions that are there, report the result from the Imports tab on the Statements page. We'll refund the credits and look at why.
What Doesn't
- Exports of any size, in any format.
- The API and webhooks. Available on every plan, including free. Only the parsing you do through them uses credits.
- Pages you leave out when choosing pages, and pages a bank's page rule skips. They're never read.
- Conversions that fail, or files Convert finds aren't invoices or receipts.
- Everything you do with data that's already in Bankflow: categorizing, rules, the dashboard, cash flow, and reports.
Save Credits on Every Import
Most statements include pages with no transactions on them: a cover letter, terms and conditions, marketing. Leave them out with Choose pages when you upload, or set a page rule on the bank so they're skipped every month, including for statements that arrive by email. See importing statements.
Your Allowance
- The free plan includes a one-time allowance of credits, with no card required, so you can try the full workflow on your own statements.
- Paid plans include a monthly allowance that resets at the start of each billing cycle. You can pay monthly or yearly.
- Credit packs top up your balance when you need more. Purchased credits roll over for six months.
Your monthly allowance is used first. Extra credits are used after it, starting with the ones that expire soonest.
When You Run Out
Nothing you've sent is lost:
- Uploaded statements wait in the processing queue. Top up, then resume them from the activity tray.
- Forwarded statements stay in your email inbox, and a banner says how many are waiting.
- Workflows stop and pick up where they left off on their next check.
- Conversions in Convert pause, and Retry on the Activity tab finishes them.
Managing Your Plan
Open Billing in the sidebar to see your plan, the credits you have left, and any extra credits with when they expire. From there you can:
- upgrade or change your plan,
- click Buy credits for a top-up pack,
- set the billing address that appears on your invoices, and
- click Manage subscription to open the billing portal, where you can change or cancel your subscription and get your invoices.
